Information

The town of Leiria is located about 120Km north of Lisbon, 190Km south of OPorto and 20 km from the Atlantic coast.

The nearest airports are in Lisbon and Oporto. Since the fast track of the railway does not have a stop at Leiria, the best choice to reach Leiria directly from Lisbon or Oporto is by by coach “Rede de Expressos” or by car via the 'high-way A1'. The high-way A8 is an alternative to A1 when coming from Lisbon.

Arriving at Lisbon International Airport

When arriving at Lisbon Airport take a taxi (€8) to the “Sete Rios/Jardim Zoológico” coach station of “Rede de Expressos”. Under low traffic conditions it should take about 10-15 min. At the coach station, buy a ticket to Leiria (€10). Your trip will take you under 2 hours. After arriving at Leiria coach station, located at the town centre, take a taxi or walk to your hotel. all hotels are within walking distance. On return the coach will drop you off at the airport.

Arriving at Sá Carneiro Airport in Oporto
If you arrive at Sá Carneiro Airport in Oporto, take a bus (601 departs every 30 m - €1.35); the underground (METRO) - there are three trains an hour from the airport into the city centre (€1,35); or a taxi (under €18) to the coach station of “Rede de Expressos” in Sá da Bandeira, where you should buy a ticket to Leiria (€ 12). Your trip will take you about 2 h 30 m (there may be a stop in Coimbra).

After arriving at Leiria coach station, located at the town centre, take a taxi or walk to your hotel. All hotels are within walking distance.

From Lisbon International Airport, take the highway A1, direction "Norte". You may also take A8, direction “Norte” and “Leiria”. After about 120 km take the exit "Leiria" and then follow the signs.

From Sá Carneiro Airport (Porto), take highway A1, direction "Sul". After about 190 km, take the exit "Leiria" and then follow the signs.

IPLeiria – School of Technology and Management (ESTG)
The conference site is located at the campus of IPLeiria/ESTG on the top of the hill “Morro do Lena” in a place called Alto Vieiro, just outside the town center. This is about 20 min walking from the town centre. See the location map.

Transport in Leiria

All the hotels in Leiria, coach station and the conference site are within walking distance (30 min max), but Leiria has a bus public transport system with buses running every 15 min. Tickets can be purchased directly from the bus driver. The price of a single ticket is 1€.

From Leiria hotels the IPLeiria / ESTG campus can be reached by public transportation (mobilis), taxi, or on foot (taking between 15 and 30 min, depending on the hotel).
